Canadian Club of the West Valley

January 14, 2009

Hi Vicki,
Your e-mail was directed to me, Vera MacIntosh, President of the Canadian Club of the West Valley. We just moved here for winter months back in January 2007. It’s ironic that I should respond to you as Chuck and I lived in Sherwood Park for 23 years. We picked Sun City, Arizona because our White Rock, B.C. friends all had a place here. That meant instant friends and a social life. But, before we made our choice we did ask a lot of people, why Sun City? We had not heard of this place. Well here in Sun City there are 7 Recreation Centre’s. Everything you could think of and much more. Each Recreation Centre has a pool. One of them has a salt water pool. There is an exercise room in each Recreation Centre plus crafts of all kinds, plus card playing rooms for everyday use, plus pool halls and bowling allies, plus lawn bowling, plus metal and wood shops, plus library’s and I’m sure if you can think of anything I haven’t mentioned, it will be there. Oh course; my personal favorite, the computer club has over 1,500 members. The Recreation Centre’s are being upgraded and renewed as we speak. Modern and up-to-date equipment etc. I call this community: “Life after Life”. There are people well into 80′s and 90′s enjoying their life as if they were 50′s and 60′s. You can actually look forward to growing old. There is a lot to do. A reason to live. For more details visit our website: www.suncityaz.org.
My husband would stay here all year round if he could. Even in the hot summer, he would be happy here. Sun City West also has a Rec. Ctre. We are so glad we asked around before we settled. The Canadian Club is a social club where we get together at different events and outings so we can see Arizona. Day trips mostly, dinners to nice restaurants, seeing the Caverns, going to dinner theatres, horse races, and anything lots of us want to do. There are very many more clubs here in the West Valley. Other clubs I don’t even know.
Mr. Paul Herrmann, Executive Director of the Sun City Visitors Centre can be reached at 1-623-977-5000 or 1-800-437-8146, e-mail address: pherrmann@suncityaz.org He has a wealth of knowledge and can share a lot of information about Sun City and all the amenities available. As well, he can provide you with the contact name and number for the Sun City Historical Society who can inform you about Mr. Del Webb. Mr. Webb, the founder and developer, designed the entire concept back in the 60′s. He was ahead of his time and had the foresight for retirement living.
A copy of your editorial, once published, would be appreciated for our files and distributing to perspective retirees. Many thanks.
Yours truly,
Vera MacIntosh

Golf Car Usage

November 10, 2008

Ronald from Iowa asked, “ I have viewed your web site but I didn’t find any mention of golf cart fees. Can a person use their own golf cart playing golf or does one have to rent? Is their any restrictions if the golf cart is gas or electric?”

The Recreation Centers of Sun City, Inc., owners of our 8 golf courses removed the trail fee in 2007.  You can therefore use your personal golf car, gas or electric, on any of our courses.  Rental cars are also av available.

Golf cars are licensed vehicles and can be driven on any streets with speed limits of 35 mph or less.

Community Service Project at ASU

October 28, 2008

Hi Community Agency,

ASU Community Service Program is continuing to engage students in service. On November 6th, we are having an on-campus service project. Students will have an opportunity to drop-by and give back to their community. We are curious if your agency is in need of envelopes stuffing, brochure folding, assembling backpacks, kits, etc. within the next week. Our staff will be willing to pick up the necessary items and transport the completed project back to your organization. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Thank you.

Motorcycle Clubs

October 20, 2008

Stuart asked: “Can you please tell me the contact person for the Sun City motorcycle club?”

Since names and numbers change, we only use general listings.  We have several motorcycle clubs operating in or around Sun City.  We show listings for Cyclerides, Flying Wheels, Golden Wing, Gold Wing Road Riders Association, Iron Warriors, and Power Riders.  Some have phone numbers and a few have web pages.  We hope this information will help.

The following link will take you to our web page.   Sun City

Click on “Businesses and Activities” and scroll down to “Clubs”, “Various Others”, then to “Motorcycle”.
